Paul & Emily

2nd March 2008

This couple’s wedding is different and most definitely cool. Emily was dressed in a beautiful exotic Indian dress and accessories. Her sister and mum also came in sarees! The bride and groom, together with their bridesmaid and bestman lead their friends and family in worship at their wedding ceremony! Hehe. I get to do sound for their wedding too! ;-p

See how happy dew crew are!
They had their wedding dinner at the Sunway Club…poolside party with a live band. It rained like cats and dogs but nothing dampens their spirit. They were as joyful as ever. Amazing couple! The rain did stop after a while and we had clear sky and the opportunity to also watch Paul play bass with his band.

Dew Crew Appreciation 2007

30th December 2008...almost the last day of the year!

Suddenly dew crew is huge…?! We finally have the 1st get-together with the AV crew from Children church and Chinese church. It was a fun nite…theme was 80’s, it was pretty interesting what some of the crew could come up with. We booked the whole place - Isthmus, North Point to ourselves….how fun. Yup, as usual, we were loud, noisy and had great laugh together. I especially like Cindy mimicking Karen during the charades.…You da girl!

This is Karen

Charmaine & Irwin

Double celebration. KK 14th Dec 2007 & KL 21st Dec 2007

Bridesmaid. 1st time.

I have never walked down the aisle of a church that slow in my entire life. I am just a fast walker. A whole lot of us flew to KK just for wedding. Jee Ing and I went 2 days earlier. Charmaine put us, her youth and YA cell members all at the Colonnade Apartments. I had my 1st manicure. A few of us went with Charmaine when she did hers. Haha…
Shangri-La, KK

Charmaine's dresses were all tailored made. Cool huh? I had a hard time finding dinner dresses since I was attending both dinners. Thank God I found SA creation. They have my kind of taste there. Go check it out in Sungai Wang!

Charmaine’s bridal shower/bachelorette night

Charmaine was reminding me about her bridal shower/bachelorette night 3 months before her wedding. Since I am her bridesmaid, she reminded me that it was my duty to organize for her. Tsk tsk tsk… asking for it. Since she was so anticipating it, I had to surprise her.

How to catch her off guard? Today, Joanne had to con-vince her to church. The girls gathered and officially hi-jack her at Dream CafĂ©. We blind folded her and brought her to my house. We blessed her with gifts and prayer and we had some games. We dressed her up, put a veil and some “make up” on and make her wear a custom designed t-shirt. After that, we blind folded her again and brought her to TGIF, Curve. Haha, she freaked out when she got off the car and suspect she was somewhere public. We made her complete a list of task…from singing to a stranger, asking for phone numbers and getting someone to buy her a drink, more specifically, milk (she got that easy…she found someone she knew!!! Cheating!).

It was an unforgettable evening!

Dew & MWM Go-Kart

The crew had a great time go-karting at retreat. We mentioned me must do it again before the year is over. So, today we invited MWM as well... okay, only Anson came but he will represent the whole lot. Even though there wasn’t that many of us, but it was fun. At Shah Alam, the karts are in better condition than the ones in PD. Had some professional practicing at the track as well….haha, we got lapped by kids! Oh, and we had to wear shower caps again.

It was a great way to relax after the whole hectic month of serving in Dream Centre. We have to do this again!

DSP to DC & Philips

It is DUMC’s great move. So what better to do than help out there since I’m so unemployed (pre-employed). I guess God made lots of things very timely…well, I sort of plan a bit lah, but He made it happen.

After all the thinking and rethinking and finally having my mum’s approval and peace from God, this is it. Spent many weeks running around with Fui Ping – who happened to be on a break from work. It was a good way of just seeing and understanding how things are done…which is an eye-opener. Of course I was also job hunting a the same time…

The call came… they want an interview… it’s Philips. And it is located on the 9th floor of my ex-company….how weird…

I got the job! Starts 1st October. Exactly when $$$ is running out. God is really good to me. He answered many of my prayer…

1. a job near church or near home
2. NOT doing accounts
3. do not pay me lower than my current salary (well, they paid the same, but that means no increment for the next year)
4. 5 days week
5. do not work on PUBLIC HOLIDAYS!!!!!
6. no crazy boss

This is really from God. Many were kind of worried for me when I first throw in my resignation before getting a new job. Well, I didn’t have much leave left to go for interview, considering most employers only wanna interview during working hours AND most importantly….I had the peace of GOD. YES!

My Last Day with DHL

I quit my job…..this is an achievement! Today is my last day!
Well, let’s just say that I have been longing for this day for wayyyyyy too long. After having farewell for so many many of your colleagues, it is a relieved that my turn finally came. After working there for more than 2 years, I wonder if I’ll miss my cubicle. Guess not.

APSSC Team Building 17th-19th Aug 2008

Right before my last week with DHL, I get to go with them on a team building trip. It’s the last time I’m going with this gang anyway. We went to Allson Kelana, Seremban. It was a weekend thing. Kinda short but great coz we get to do abseiling, climb high ropes on trees. It was great team work we had. It was all part of a team thing. My partner was Korean colleague Ashley. She’s very cool. Think the trip gave her great opportunity to know a lot more people in office. The dinner theme on Saturday night was Retro 70's. Some were really sporting, they actually went to rent wigs and costumes. Going to miss some of these fellas…especially my buddy!

Lasik Surgery – 12th June 2007

I discovered quite a number of people has done this surgery! Imagine, specs and contacts free!!! That would be so great…only a person who wears specs understands this. I normally wear my contact to swim. I just can’t imagine walking around not being able to see. First, I found out Connor and Janet did it a number of years ago, then I found out dear Siew Kim also did many years ago….no negative side effects so far.

I did some research and went to the specialist with the longest track record in the country, Optimax. There is actually quite a number of different type of Lasik…and not everyone is suitable for all. My eyes were actually suitable for 2. After much thinking, I went with the more expensive but more advanced and safer procedure…hey, it’s my eyes you know, not worth taking the risk.

Actually on the actual surgery day, it’s kinda scary. They tell you all the possibility of the surgery and made me sign that I understood. Well, too late to look back.

I was lead into a room with another 3 patient. The 3 of them were from Brunei… can’t believe they flew all the way here because the outlet here in TTDI is the most advanced in the region. Our doctor, Dr. Chuah Kay Leong examined each of our eyes and explained to us the procedure. And he commented that I may experience some pain because I looked like I have small eyes. But he did comment that normally ladies are better in a way because we don’t move much (I think ladies are braver la). Right before my turn, I heard the him raising his voice telling the guy not to move numerous times. Yikes.

I prayed throughout the surgery. It was a successful one. Dr. Chuah said that my eyes are not that small after all…Haha. It was blurry right after it. Went straight home to sleep before the numbness wears off. After just sleeping for a few hours I was good. Still a little hazy… but I actually went out. ;-p

The amazing thing I discover from this is that God really made our body…dunno what is the best word but great. The cut they made on the eye does not require stitches. It just heals back on its own. Cool huh.

Wycliffe Camp 7th-10th June 2007

As part of MCPP 2 programme we had to attend a non-DUMC mission camp. Thanks to Siew Mei, Wycliffe has organized this specially for our group at Cameron Highlands. It was an interesting camp; we learn some Nepali and understand further what it takes to do a translation of the bible. Since there were a number of us from crew, we couldn’t resist stopping to take some photos!

Dew Crew Retreat 30th Apr-2nd May 2007

We had a retreat at Casa Rachado, Port Dickson. One of the highlights was the go-kart ride. They only had 3 kart… and we kinda destroyed one. Took turns on it and had a good laugh at each other. Only terrible thing was the yucky wet helmet. They got us to wear the shower cap…but yah, a good hair wash was needed. Casa Rachado is pretty cool. We rented a number of apartment units. It was facing the beach, so it was pretty nice. We had a volleyball game on the beach as well.

Nepal 12th-23rd Apr 2007

So, looks like this time they aren’t so many people wanting to go to Nepal…many factors but this time it is open to the Sangati gang…Yup, we were going to the same place as before plus exploring a few additional places. This time I have Janet, Connor, Evelyn, Audrey and my favourite leader…Kelvin ;-p

It was a challenge to begin with. My passport expired and I had to renew it. Went to Subang…very early to queue but was told “Sistem down la”. Was super frus man, I took leave for this. And I don’t have much with the trip and wanting to attend interviews! Waited a while before I finally decide to try Damansara. Thank God – there was no queue at all…how weird.

As per the previous year…Leave was not easy. I was told I took a week of last year for Cambodia…huh?!! WHATEVER…

Our flight tickets were not confirmed till the very last minute…and this time we were experimenting with new airline….Nepal Air! We were upgraded to the “business class”. But this is not MAS… no TV etc… btw, other than the stewardess; we were the only ladies on board. Many of the Nepalese are taking the flight back home after many years of working in Malaysia. Compared with Thai, this is better in a way it was a direct flight…AND contrary to popular believe that the airline always delays…we were right on time and maybe slightly earlier than schedule. Same thing when we came back.

It was nice to see familiar faces after 2 years. See how much some of the children have grown… some of the youth got married and had babies! Was great to stay with the Palans & Aunty Jutta again. We met up with Maan who was attending Sangati when he was in Malaysia and Lee who visited Malaysia a little while ago.

On the way back, the taxi carrying me, Connor and Janet hit a divider really hard. It was amazing that none of us got hurt. It was pretty late and dark and raining. But the taxi managed to start even after the crash. Another amazing thing was when we got down from the taxi at the airport; I went to the front to check out the damaged. There was only some scratches and a small dent on the number plate. God was really there to protect us.

Fortunately/unfortunately we did not manage to secure a flight back on Sunday. So we were officially the longest mission trip overseas….12 days! Flying back, we even got upgraded right before we board the plane. This time, we were upgraded to 1st class. Still no TV but nice lah.

Barely a day or 2 after we arrived back, it was reported that all 2 of Nepal Air’s plane has been grounded due to engine or mechanical defect. *Whew* God really brought us home safely…we could have crashed or stuck in Nepal longer.

LiveWire’s 2nd Media Conference – March 9th-11th 2007

This year’s workshop was quite specialized. It was on photography. The speaker was this guy we met at Planetshakers KK…Louis. It’s really great to learn the basics of photography…everyone came with their small digital camera, DSLR and very expensive lenses. Cool.

Raewynn & Ndrew

My 1st secondary school classmate’s wedding on 3rd March 2007… or at least that I am attending. When the groom’s entourage came, I saw a familiar face. My cell member! She’s the groom’s sister. Small world! It was an honour to be able to accompany the bride during her wedding day when the make up etc are all done.

High School Musical @ DSP – 16th Dec 2006

This is the largest cast ever by the Children Church production. Apparently HSM is super super popular with kids...and I have no idea what on earth is that. We have so many wireless “running” around…..the kids were RUNNING around! It’s so great to see all of them so excited about doing well for God. All of them had to show their Pastor that they have been dong their quiet time consistently to be involve in this production. I believe they are the true good examples to follow. If you can only see how dedicated they were in perfecting their dance steps, the song lyrics and scripts. They were really really good! They had to be…or else Vivi would bite them.

Planetshakers KL – 13th –15th Dec 2006

Another LiveWire Production. This is probably the one team that is made up of the most number of churches. We have media crew form Penang, SIBKL, DUMC, EaglePoint. Somehow everybody just work super well together. I mean, most of us don’t know each other until this. And the setup and set down were done extremely fast…honestly, we were very efficient! Hahaha. Sprained my ankle trying to get rid of “camera blockers”…ouch! And we have children church musical the next day! And I went to work on Monday! It swell like gila on Tuesday….and I got MC….ehehehe…but it was painful lah…somemore so uglyyyy…

Dew Media Appreciation 3rd Dec 2006

It is cool to finally meet people from the different branch of dew media…floodgates, powerpoint, photography and interactive. We had a blast at Friendster. We sang, make lots of noise and entertained each other very very well.

My favourite photo of the night is none other than my team members…all in white …except CE, rebel.

Hillsongs United Live – Nov 2006

This was one of LiveWire’s project at SIB KL, and few of us from Dew have this great opportunity to be part of the camera crew. Quite cool.

MCPP 2 Presentation at Mission Weekend 14th & 15th Oct 2006

Siew Mei is probably the 1st person who inspired me into missions. She’s has done so much. She was encouraging me to join her on the short team trips in 2002 even before she went on Doulos. I knew I would be most guilty when she returned from Doulos in 2005 and I haven’t even gone on a short term. Thand God I finally went to Nepal. Since back with DUMC, she has been helping to coordinate lots of training and activities. Well, also encourage a number of us to GO by faith!

Siew Mei is really good with mime…I have watched her perform it a few times. Well, she’s a natural performer. Anything from acting to dancing, she nails it.

So, for mission weekend, she taught us a mime. It was really cool since most of us have never done it before. Since we had to do it 4 times, we had quite a bit of time to kill. So took some photos and went around scaring people. ;-p

APSSC Team Building @ Marriott Putrajaya Sept 9th –10th, 2006

I didn’t feel like going…I feel like I had to work during the weekend…!!!!! So not fair. Thank God for nice colleagues. Oh and nice hotels… the Marriot in Putra Jaya is pretty nice. Especially the pillows…..oh feather super soft pillows…so nice. Could just sleep through the weekend. Hehe. The thing was the talk...talk talk talk....nothing new that I haven't heard of...Maybe I attended way too many leadership seminar when I was with Leo... maybe I heard a lot in church as well....but the thing is, I think many would agree with me that sit down kind of team building, is just to for the bulk of us.

My team...the Piranhas

Hew Yen had the privilege to get drunk on Sat night...she just laughs....AT EVERYTHING. We had to carry her back to the room...I dunno how many times she fell of the bed, but she was so enjoying it....laughing all the way ;-p

Cambodia 4th-12th Aug 2006

Before I knew it, and since it was a requirement under MCPP 2, I was asked to be in the team to Cambodia. Honestly I wanted to go back to Nepal and there was a team going in September but don’t know, felt a stronger call to be in this team. I have the amazing opportunity to work with Kau Sern, Joanne, Janice, DebbieDebbie, Debbie Loh, Joel, Sarah and the youngest of us all, Aaron. This was youth team and we were there to also conduct a 3-days camp.

We stayed with a 2 church members based in Cambodia. One in Phnom Penh and another in Baray. Well, we were mostly in Baray where our church member have a handicraft workshop and operate a homestay programme. On the 2nd day of the camp, our 4th in Cambodia, 3 of us were little unwell. Our kind host cooked us porridge. We had homemade kaya. Yup, was another one of those pampering trip. I feel so LOVED! Actually one thing about this trip was I didn’t really felt like I left Malaysia. Maybe it’s a bigger team, and we have our missionaries with us all the time, their kids around. Their presence was a blessing to me. As their share about their work, I can only see how great is their faith and how great is our God. They also celebrated Sarah, Aaron and my birthday. God really reminded me how bless I am when I was told that most of the children/youth at camp have never tasted cake before.

I really believe that the mission field is where all the action is….and where life changes and miracles happens everyday. ;-D

Everyone of us get to go on motorbike ride. That was how we get around in the villages unless we were going with the whole group. That was fun. The last time I sat on one was when I was really young. Before coming back, we had a short R & R. That was when we visited the historical "school" the Touslang Museum - we were a little silly to have gone a little late in the evening. Was a bittt creepy. Just imagine how many were sacrifice in the country. I was told that during the difficult time in Cambodia, anyone who was educated or wore glasses were murdered. What we saw at the Museum were photographs of people killed during the Khmer Rouge Regime. Many who were children and babbies.

Anyway, took a while to digest all that. We had dinner on a boat ride on the Mekong River. That was really cool too. There is just so much to mentioned...and I could go on and on...but my roomie...she managed to vomit everything from that trip really well... in a blog specially dedicated to the trip... check out Squaw Red Rim

Leaders’ Summit 30th June – 2nd July 2006

Instead of the usual camp, this year the church has organized a special retreat for leaders. All the families of cell and ministry leaders were invited to this retreat at Awana. Actually the number of us is so huge we took up the whole ballroom. Since it was also World Cup fever, we had a bunch of people crowding and standing the only TV/projector screen at the lounge to watch. Some of us thought that maybe the mamak nearby will have some seat…yeah right! Every mamak with TV was packed.

Trainings 2006...all the way

2006 resolution was really to attend more training to equip myself. So, I started my MCPP2. I finally completed my SOL Level 1 in July!!! And I decided to take up the challenge to commit my self to a 7 months iGIG/Million Leader Mandate. I was really privilege to have the opportunity to take this under an amazing leader who puts so much into the training.

It's quite crazy...

I was schdule to got to Cambodia in August...

1 week after the trip, I was at my last iGIG. I survived and managed to complete all 6 of my assignments….a great achievement for me.
2 weeks after the trip, I was on my way for my second weekend of the MCPP 2 training. And we had assignment to hand in! Hehehe. We survived. I survived!

Biz CG Retreat @ Genting Hightlands – April 2006

I haven’t been to CG retreat for a pretty long time too. I arrived with some later so we didn’t go into the theme park. But had a good time hanging out with the girls. And we did the superman roller coster with Melissa and Irwin…one thing I learned from my host sisters in Japan was, on rides like this, scream your lungs out…and the fear will disappear…seriously works man!!

LiveWire’s 1st Media Conference – 10th-13th March 2006

This was the first time LiveWire is conducting a conference. It received really good responses from different churches. We had like an express lesson on lights, sound and camera! Also had script writing and editing. We were so privilege to have industry experienced professionals to teach us. Our mentor was great too, guiding us on so many details. I think our team did pretty well; all of us were from different churches…different age groups! Think when God’s people come together….amazing things just happens!

Dew Crew Retreat: 19th-21st February 2006

I don’t remember having a retreat in 2005. So thought that this year we should have something. Bukit Tinggi was sort of a more favoured place. At least it’s not that hot. I guess the biggest challenge was to get everyone on the trip. Had to select a date when most people can make it can so decided on a Sunday-Tuesday thing. Quite a number couldn’t make the whole trip. So, Sunday was the only day we manage to get almost everyone together. We had bowling and paintball!!! After our dinner we had a pretty long chat at the restaurant. Thank God it was just at Bukit Tinggi. The 3 cars that returned on that day managed to each KL in around an hour. Of course the next few days were relaxing, visit a few places and took lots and lots of photographs. Truly refreshing.

MCPP 2

It’s normal to get an invitation for MCPP 2 after our 1st mission trip. So since one of the things I wanted to do was to continually equip myself so I thought, great!

Unlike MCPP 1, it’s not just the 2 weekend for MCPP 2 weekends (11/2 & 12/2 and 19/8 & 20/8) that take up the bulk of the time. I had compulsory readings, attend 2 DUMC mission weekends and a non DUMC misision conference…yup, what on earth did I commit myself into?! Oh and of course 1 overseas mission trip...hmmmm

AYA Festival with Delirious - 2nd Feb 2006

Wow, another opportunity to have fun. Had a great time at the concert and my goodness, grammy award winning Delirious sounds great live! Yup, probably the very expensive sound system contributed too.

Puji Nusantara 2nd-4th Dec 2005

Church Christmas Concert with an Asian flavour. We had musicians playing the gu zheng and er hu! Cool huh. Yes! My dew crew team gets to do this live event. Hmmm... how come i don't have any picture on this...

Planetshakers KK and KL – Nov 2005

Barely back for long from Nepal, I was on my way to KK for the 1st time. I don’t know how on earth I have the time/leave from work but God is good. I was flying on my own for the first time. I remembered CE and Alice picked me from the airport. Met some amazing people who shared the same passion of the media. Setting up stuff and slept pretty little for the next few days. We even pose and took photo in the middle of a road at 3am after supper. How hyper can we be? Somehow, by the strength of God, after the 3 nights conferences I still managed to be there to help out a little for the KL conference! Awesome.

Nepal 6th-15th Oct 2005

This trip was really the first time I am pretty far away from home. I was away for a longer time before, my 5 weeks in Japan, but that was a trip that I was absolutely spoilt and treated like a VIP.

After the 2 months of preparation and challenge faced, this was it. I was pretty sad that the whole thing is coming to and end! But let me just mentioned some things. If you are really interested to know more, ask me! I’ll show you my DVD of the trip…done by me! Be warned, it’s pretty long winded.

We stayed with a Malaysian family for most of the trip and a few days at a German lady’s farm. Actually we’re pretty spoilt…at least I feel that way! We got Malaysian food and our host baked apple crumbles….huh, I don’t even get that at home!

It’s amazing to learn of another culture you know. Village Nepalese don’t share food unless they are husband and wife. If you are Malaysian you will understand this amazing struggle. We are Malaysian; we share food all the time, even more so when we are eating something new, because we MUST try each other’s meal. And there are some of us who are small eater and some with great appetite. Hehe. We have to constantly remind ourselves. What a relieved when we finally make it back to the city. We practically pass our plates around…hehehe.

The stay at the farm was new. Thank God for those “inconvenient” toilets CYZ camps always seems to have. It’s like practice! Toilet….don’t wear specs. You don’t have to see everything too clearly. If something is tickling you, just brush it off. Kinda have an idea what our parents have when they were young. Actually I was pretty amazed at myself. I sound like I was pretty adaptable. The one insect I absolutely am terrified of was everywhere in our room. Some are pretty big. No point shooing them away. It’s their territory. The spiders will be back sooner than we can imagine.

The people there are really great. If you can only see how they worship and pray… oh and tithe too! A lot of the men are working overseas, either the Middle East or here in Malaysia. They actually send their tithes back home. Most of them don’t understand English especially the older generations. So we had interpreters helping us out.

Nepalese really like us you know. Just mention that you are from Malaysia that their eyes will lit up. One of the main reasons is because their father/brother or husband is working here. So they feel connected somehow. They are really gentle and trust others easily.

Those 10 days taught me a lot. It definitely shaped my perspective. It is also such a joy that we have a fellowship here at home where we can serve them weekly. Ever since the begining of the preparation meetings, I’ve been serving in the fellowship doing usher, AV, leading worship and everything else that needs hands!

drama-ness@work

God really work in very very weird ways...I don't understand most of them. But since He knows best, I just have to trust and obey Him.

Coming into this job, I already feel very "conned" on the first day. I found out that we were moving to Cyberjaya and I was the ONLY one who was not informed during the interview. I was also not informed that I will have to work every Malaysian and HK holiday. Unless the 2 countries' holidays coincides, No holiday for me. Well, so what if they pay, it's not just about the money.

I was the only staff in the department to handle tasks from 2 companies using totally different programmes with 2 supervisors. Yup, there were many clashing of deadline. As I "tahan" and work throughout the few months, more and more work were pile on me. It is very obvious that i can't handle, if only i can show you my desk. i've tried working till 12am, and the work is still not finished. I hardly step out for lunch.

I signed up for mission, my leave was not approved, same goes for unpaid. I was told that no one in the whole department never took more than a week leave before. Rubbish. My friend took 15 days study leave when she wasn't even in the company for 2 months. One thing I hate most is being lied to on the most obvious thing!

Of course I didn't point her out. No point.
After 3 weeks of thinking and asking for the leave. Answer was still no. Even the manager says its all up to my supervisor. I don't believe this. How can I work here anymore? I can keep going on and on about other negative things here.

Tender my resignation on Friday. My supervisor got it on Monday. I believe he was going to take it. Probably, some objection from a colleague who taught me lots of stuff made him had second thoughts. Most would think that this is drastic, but I have thought this through for quite sometime. Infact, if really didn't want to come anymore on the 2nd of work. But i know this, it is really difficult to change field. (why on earth did i studied accounts!) I will most probably end up in another accounting job if i do quit now. Eeeww.

On Tuesday, I was asked to stay. My leave was approved and they are hiring another person to share the workload. Apparently I have been doing at least another 2/3 of another person's workload. I didn't do this to threaten him. I just hope it won't look that way. The thing is, it shouldn't have taken my resignation to move them. That was not my intention too anyway. I would assume they can hire someone else better (just have to pay more!)

Actually, I was really happy to know that I can finally leave this place. But looks like God has other plans. Not exactly what I was hoping for. But now, I don't exactly have a strong reason to leave....well unless another job offer comes along...i guess my time here is not exactly over FOR NOW. I still want to leave this place. I don't want to work on my holidays....hulloooo?!! I still don't find my work interesting.
But praise GOd for what He has done now. TIMING....

Maybe God can't bear the sight of me staying at home. Cause I can totally enjoy it! Ahahahahaha. ;-p Hopefully the next time I give the letter, it would be for another job I know I would enjoy doing - definitely not accounts for SURE!

APSSC Team Buildling at Jeram Besu Sept 10th-11th, 2005

At first at thought aiyoh, weekend away…this was like after my first attempt to resign. Was pretty fun indeed. We all had our individual “bungalows” ….tent to sleep in. Hew Yen was my neighbour. This was the first time I get to try abseiling. Quite fun actually. And a few different methods in doing it. Hehe. After being taught how to use the compass, we were required to complete a few task…we absolutely fail in using the compass and map. Even the river “kayaking” was very much a joke. But you know what, in the end; we somehow manage quite alright…haha. At such events we get to make some new friends too ;-D

firsts

Ever since I started working, I did some stuff quite "unimagineable" not too long ago. Like what? Like when ppl call me out to mamak/1 utama etc, i actually replied, "dun wan la, I'm tired". But there is one that is even worse....I actually fell asleep watching tv! It has never happened before! I mean I fell asleep when I was "trying" to study for uncountable times but never when I'm watching tv!!! Weird man...

But nope, still don't prefer studying accounts...so stubborn huh... ;-p

Being positive?

I haven’t written anything for like 10,000 years…fine, I like to exaggerate (I assume all of you who know me can tell when I’m exaggerating and when I’m not ;-p). But that’s just how I feel. Work…not fun. And nope, still don’t prefer studying accounts to that. After working for a while, I realized how many things were not revealed to me during my interview. Well, lesson learned: ask even the most obvious question next time. I have tried and I am still trying my best to stay in this job. I do try telling myself that I will CHOOSE to be happy at work. It works, sometimes. But lately, things are getting a little overwhelming. I can write a 5000 word essay on that. But I think I better not dwell in that too much. There are 2 things that I really do like. I met some really great people and the current office is just one LRT stop away from DSP.

I’m setting a limit. One last straw, if it doesn’t work then......... hey, everyone has a tolerance level.

Ok, time to talk about something much more happier and interesting! Let’s see, not too long ago, I attended Rueben Morgon’s concert. To me, it wasn’t just a concert; it was a really amazing worship experience. Those of you who were there will know...wish there are more of such "concerts" around.

I had a great birthday makans! Ehehe. One session at TGIF with Mei Peng and Annette (eh, mana photo lah, only show off your new phone but never share the photos), one session with Paul at the now famous Sri Paandi (i think we ate at the corner lot one), one session at Manhattan Fish Market with Debbie, Joseph, Choon Ean, Karen and Andrea, another makan with movie with Monica and Debbie, and one more at Chili’s with Jee Ing, Charmaine, Yvonne and Lydia. Wah, I feel so blessed…a bit bloated too maybe! Hehe.

Despite the haze, you gals still made it. Thanks yeah! And thanks to everyone for remembering my bday, the pressies and not forgetting the video...ahem. Please, no unauthorized filming or screening. Yih Wen, I know my rights… I am the law…
Then there was last Friday’s Planetshakers@DSP. Thank God I manage to get half day off (wasn’t exactly easy when I was leaving that afternoon) for the rehearsal. But I had an excellent time. It was just awesome, enjoyed so much. Was such an honour to serve along with them, although I didn’t do much. :-p

I felt it ended too quickly....too soon! Probably because I knew I was going to work the next day…

People, do pray for me. I really want to get another job….FAST.

truths

We have no right to decide where we should be place, or to have preconceived ideas as to what God is preparing us to do. God engineers everything; and wherever He places us, our one supreme goal should be to pour out our lives in wholehearted devotion to Him in that particular work.

The proof that our relationship is right with God is that we do our best whether we feel inspired or not.

Working...so far

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Have been working for a month now. Officially on the job just a little more than 3 weeks because I was going through an induction programme for new employees during the 1st 2 weeks of May. We had a little "graduation" party last Monday to officially welcome us into the company.

I met some really great people. They have been really patient and willing to teach. Praying that they will continue to do so. Hehe. Have to admit I'm pretty slow. Hopefully I will start picking up things more quickly when more real work is passed to me.

My Philharmonic Experience

Yup, yesterday night, I had the opportunity to experience the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. Nope, didn't pay for it. Hehehe. My cousin and his friends couldn't make it and had 4 extra tickets so my mum, aunt, Charmaine and I get to go. Always wanted to attend something like that but never really thought of booking months in advance, paying, going all the way to KLCC, alone.

The conductor was Kees Bakels. Also performing was Joost Flach, Philip Arkinstall, Daniel Hrinda and Sabina Pade on oboe, clarinet, bassoon and horn respectively. Honestly, no offence but absolutely does not ring a bell. What to do, not really the kind who will read up on latest classical musicians. But all of them together with MPO are really great. They performed 3 pieces by Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven. Extremely great dynamic controls man, and watching them play each note precisely spot-on…total RESPECT! Well, they ARE professionals!!!

I believe audio equipment is minimum in the hall. Only 6 mics hanging from the ceiling, 2 front fill speakers, some on the sides, and yet, it sounded so majestic. It's the canggih hall, the 1st Malaysian concert hall specially built for classical music. I wonder how much it cost :P

One other thing that really impressed me. The audience. No ugly Malaysian! Zero phone ringing, everyone abide by the dress code, no children screaming, no talking, no kicking the back of your chair....absolute silence through out the performance! People only dared shift position/cough when a part of the pieces ends! Oh, I know why, because more than 80% of them aren't even Malaysians!

But it’s really cool. Charmaine mention that if we had the opportunity to experience this when we were younger and still learning the piano, it would have really inspired us. I totally agree. :D SO, do grab a chance to go when you can. Bring your kids when they are tired of practicing their instruments (but please don’t bring them if they are unable to sit still-spoil saja). I am sure it will make a difference.

The job got me

The past few weeks have not been easy for me. I was pre-employed (as Pr. Mike would put it) for way too long. Didn’t really think it would be THIS long since my last paper. I was beginning to wonder why with all possible negative answers attached. It was really terrible. Yea, so what if I don’t quite want to do accounts even if that’s my major. I really believe I can do something else other than accounts. I forwarded my resume to a number of people who offered to help. And for the weirdest reason, I was offered a job…guess what? ACCOUNTS!

I took the job. Hullo, I had to; no one else wants to hire me...(somehow, I suspected something like that would happen)...

This is my second week. I have yet to really start working. Going through an induction programme for new employees. It is a lot like going for lecture. We have a test everyday to make sure we are actually paying attention…it’s ok so far, as long as I don’t keep thinking about the stuff that I’m not happy with. Among the 20 inductees (we’re all from different departments), I’m the only fresh grad. These ppl are pretty nice. I’ll start the real work next week. Then I’ll know where my work station is, who are my immediate colleagues and supervisor. Please pray that they are nice, at least willing to teach, helpful and easy to get a long – am I asking for too much?

Dear All,
With much delight we want to share our greatest jof of all in our latest scan with the doctor with you , and we were told to expect a TRIPLET!

It was WOW! WAH! and WOW! again. We gonna have 3 children at one go! Just imagine that both Lai Li and I had never have younger siblings and now we will have this tremendous priviliege to take care of 3 babies at one go.

Yes! we are prepared spritually, mentally and physically to take up this responsibility and truly looking forward to that exciting date in June. We have been assured by all of your love too in the CG that some of you will be helping us out.

Guessed that for those who stay nearby like Andrew Lau, Sook Fern, Kheng Yew, Julia, Amy, Jee Ing and Jonathan will be of great blessing to us to take care of the 3 babies at certain time when we are out.

Lai Li and I will not giving up dating one another over the weekend and we can always place our trust of the 3 babies on any 3 of you. (1 baby for 1). Thanks so much in advance!

We are overjoyed. Hoped that you will share this moment with us too!

ps We have also decided to give away a "mysterious gift" for those who are able to get the gender right for the Triplet. ( You may start suggesting their names too)

Excited

Hi All,
What great news Beng Keat…congrats!!!!I have a suggestion, why don’t everyone in CYZ share a triplet gift for Beng Keat and Lai Li. Maybe triplets baby cot or pram. When we decide what it is, it would be good that Beng Keat you let everyone know, cause we don’t want anyone else buying the same thing right? How about that? RM10 a person? What do you think Pastor Marg and Pastor Mike?

Hi Julia,
Thanks for your thoughfulness and excitement.
This year has really passed by quick and fast, and quarter 1 has gone.
It is now APRIL...and it is the first day of APRIL.

Happy April Fool's day everyone!!
I'd thought of sharing this "private joke" only with the Biz 2 members as we can more or less control the communication flow as you all meet in our house every weekly. The truth is supposed to be revealed to you all tonight. However, need to "chuen poh"/ break the joke now as it has gone to the CYZ yahoo grp!! Ps Marge and Ps Mike too!!

Hope that this will not get out of hand and we will start receiving gifts in the "triplet". We don't actually mind ):

We are equally Wow! Wah! and Wow! again for the 1 baby that we are blessed with at this moment. As I am always being reminded that children is of the Lord. They are God's greatest gift. It will be one of the most wonderful gift and experience for the both of us.

So for those who stay nearby...stop panicking as there will only be 1 baby for the time being):

To cheer things up on the 1st of April

Confession time.
Beng Keat and Lai Li…the truth is, this email never went to the cyz yahoo groups. So, April Fool!!!!!
Just needed to see your reaction when we intentionally resend the email to make you think we sent it to everyone else. Noticed the missing “s” in the yahoo group email address? Jee Ing helped identify this “fake” email that would most likely go unnoticed. To make it more real, I needed some assistance…yea, I got Charmaine and Pastor Mike to congratulate you on purpose. ;) Actually I was really hoping you would send your confession email to the real dumc yahoo group!!!! Hehehehehe.

But it was fun right???? It only happens once a year anyway….but tell you what, I’ll try my best to keep this email until your child learns to read and show it to him/her about being triplets!!!!
