Hillsong Conference 2013

29th June-8th July 2013
Hillsong Conference 2013

I have wanted to attend Hillsong Conference for the longest time. And finally, my very first trip to Australia!

So glad we had rented cars. We stayed at the Oaks Goldsborough Apartments which is really near the Darling Harbour. Managed to check out the Opera House and Harbour Bridge from a ferry ride. Haha. Such a tourist!

The conference started the next day and it was solid days at the Allphones Arena of the Sydney Olympic Park. I really love the main sessions with the guest speakers as well as Pr Brian and Bobbie's team. The workshops are pretty general and understandably because of the wide range of delegates attending it. Without this Conference, I doubt I would have the opportunity to hear so many speakers from Texas - and those who live next to it. Conference joke.

Guest speakers include Bishop T.D Jakes of The Potter's House, Joel & Victoria Osteen of Lakewood Church, Craig Groeschel of Lifechurch.tv, and Judah Smith of The City Church. Also guest worship leaders Kari Jobe, Leeland and Israel Houghton.

What I love most is to see the volunteers at work. It is so encouraging to see them serve with all their hearts. The volunteers are combination from all the different campuses. Truly amazed at the number of people involved in the conference every year. Think they mentioned that it takes about 2000 people to make it happen. Their technical team is huge too. Just watching how quickly they transition props and equipments on stage! So many more were working backstage. Salute to the team! Thanks for the inspiration.

Charge Up! Conference 2013

11th-14th Apr 2013
Since the very 1st Charge Up conference, I'm finally back as a delegate this round to learn After Effects!

It's a challenge for someone not used to photoshop. But thank God I've pulled it through. I won't say that I could do those fancy stuff in a minute but I think opening the software won't freak me out. Lol. Here's what I did. Not the most fantastic thing but I made it.

HoWT Asia 2012

3rd-7th Oct 2012
Houses of Worship Technologies - Asia 2012

It was an interesting 5 days attending the sessions and at the same time catching up with some friends in Singapore. Have to admit that the exhibition was more interesting than the workshops for us. Checking out the latest technologies and possibilities for DUMC's upgrade, live streaming as well as the phase 2 project. The possibilities are just endless (if you have unlimited budget). Plus, some stuff may cost us more back in Malaysia.

We also had the opportunity to meet Steven Yeoh, technical director from Hope Church, Singapore. They recently moved into a new premise within a mall (Textile Centre) and have done up the place with lots of thoughts in regards to audio, visual and lighting acoustic treatment. We were definitely impressed with their equipments but more impressed with how the place was done with so much input by Steven at the planning stage. Basically, AV design was priority for the place.

We stayed with the salvation army throughout the conference. A small decent apartment for 4 of us.

Livewire’s Charge Up! Conference 2008

24th-27th April 2008

This year, the conference is kinda different for me. I was a helper instead of a delegate like previous years. The conference was held at Life College. What is different compared to last year was, the church that used to meet at the college has moved…therefore, so did the instrument and sound system!!! My responsibility was to arrange for the sound system for the conference… how do you actually do such thing…? Favour from God lah. Thank God we had EC. He managed to secure the system and practically put the whole thing together. We did have some extra hands. Honestly if we didn’t get the unit from EC, I don’t know where on earth to find someone willing to loan us their equipment for a few days. Thank God also that we managed to get Alvin and Evie to loan their drums and keyboard. *whew*

LiveWire’s 2nd Media Conference – March 9th-11th 2007

This year’s workshop was quite specialized. It was on photography. The speaker was this guy we met at Planetshakers KK…Louis. It’s really great to learn the basics of photography…everyone came with their small digital camera, DSLR and very expensive lenses. Cool.

Planetshakers KL – 13th –15th Dec 2006

Another LiveWire Production. This is probably the one team that is made up of the most number of churches. We have media crew form Penang, SIBKL, DUMC, EaglePoint. Somehow everybody just work super well together. I mean, most of us don’t know each other until this. And the setup and set down were done extremely fast…honestly, we were very efficient! Hahaha. Sprained my ankle trying to get rid of “camera blockers”…ouch! And we have children church musical the next day! And I went to work on Monday! It swell like gila on Tuesday….and I got MC….ehehehe…but it was painful lah…somemore so uglyyyy…

This was one of LiveWire’s project at SIB KL, and few of us from Dew have this great opportunity to be part of the camera crew. Quite cool.

LiveWire’s 1st Media Conference – 10th-13th March 2006

This was the first time LiveWire is conducting a conference. It received really good responses from different churches. We had like an express lesson on lights, sound and camera! Also had script writing and editing. We were so privilege to have industry experienced professionals to teach us. Our mentor was great too, guiding us on so many details. I think our team did pretty well; all of us were from different churches…different age groups! Think when God’s people come together….amazing things just happens!

AYA Festival with Delirious - 2nd Feb 2006

Wow, another opportunity to have fun. Had a great time at the concert and my goodness, grammy award winning Delirious sounds great live! Yup, probably the very expensive sound system contributed too.

Planetshakers KK and KL – Nov 2005

Barely back for long from Nepal, I was on my way to KK for the 1st time. I don’t know how on earth I have the time/leave from work but God is good. I was flying on my own for the first time. I remembered CE and Alice picked me from the airport. Met some amazing people who shared the same passion of the media. Setting up stuff and slept pretty little for the next few days. We even pose and took photo in the middle of a road at 3am after supper. How hyper can we be? Somehow, by the strength of God, after the 3 nights conferences I still managed to be there to help out a little for the KL conference! Awesome.
